One Stop Shop for Health and Social Services

Construction of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's regional head office and community health and social services facility is proceeding on schedule. By May 2009, WRHA staff will begin to move into this dynamic community that is progressing as one of the development hot spots of Winnipeg.

The top two storeys of the new building, located at the corner of Logan Avenue and Main Street will be WRHA regional offices, while the prominent street level and 2nd level will feature a health and social services centre called ACCESS Downtown. Scheduled to open in September 2009, ACCESS Downtown brings together under one roof community health and social services currently provided in various locations of Winnipeg.

Services offered to area residents, include:

The new ACCESS Centre will provide improved access to information and services that area residents need to stay healthy. It will be especially helpful to people and families who need more than one service, as they'll be able to access services and information they need from one easy-to-reach, community location.

Bringing together health and social services of WRHA, Manitoba Family Services and Housing and Manitoba Health has the added benefit of allowing staff to work more closely as a team, ensuring better coordination of services and improved care. And ACCESS staff will work closely with the community to ensure that services are a reflection of their needs.

ACCESS Downtown will be Winnipeg's third ACCESS Centre, following the opening of ACCESS River East in 2004 and ACCESS Transcona in 2007. Plans are also underway for new ACCESS Centres in the Inkster and St. James communities.
