March 13 is Manitoba Renal Health Awareness Day

Are you at risk for kidney disease? Often there are no warning signs when the kidneys aren't working properly. A large decrease in kidney function can occur before a person even feels sick from kidney disease. Even if there is a loss in kidney function, there maybe no symptoms and a person may not even feel sick. And by then it maybe too late.

Many Manitobans have some form of kidney disease and do not even know it. Early detection is the key to prevention and better management of this disease.

The Winnipeg health region's Manitoba Renal Program is hosting the Annual Renal Health Awareness day on Friday, March 13, 2009 to highlight the importance of early detection, better management and prevention of kidney disease for all Manitobans.

Head to a Wal-Mart at Polo Park, Regent or St. Vital on Friday, March 13, to learn about potential kidney risks, who is most at risk and should be screened for kidney disease, and what the early signs are of kidney function loss.

Kidney Disease is preventable - join the dedicated staff from the Manitoba Renal Program and learn important facts about Kidney Disease. Contact the Manitoba Renal Program at 787-7382 or for more details, visit www.manitobarenalprogram.ca
