Discover the World of Food and Healthy Choices at the Manitoba Children's Museum!

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority proudly supports the Manitoba Children's Museum newest exhibit Food for Health! The grand opening of the Food for Health temporary exhibit took place at the Children's Museum on Monday, July 6, 2009 and included performances by entertainer Aaron Burnett, delicious and nutritious snacks, and free goodie bags.

The interactive exhibition offers children a hands-on opportunity to discover the world of food and healthy choices, including how food makes its way from the farm to the fork, the ingredients and microorganisms found in food, and how to stay physically fit for life. Children will learn to "chews" their food wisely and play their way to fitness!

Developed by the Canada Agriculture Museum, circulated by Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation, and presented by Sobeys, the Food for Health exhibition features several learning stations: Explore how food has changed throughout history; how to be a supermarket superhero by spying on food ingredients; and how to keep food safe from bacteria baddies. Little visitors can also participate in activities like putting together an x-ray puzzle, stretching out with yoga, burning calories on a bike, racing the clock with shopping cart games, and can even take an activity tracker home to continue their Food for Health exploration.
