Angels over Winnipeg

Volunteers raise money for Misericordia Health Centre project

Arlene Wilgosh, President & CEO of the Winnipeg Health Region, Kerri Irvin-Ross, Minister of Housing and Community Development, and Rosie Jacuzzi, President & Chief Operating Officer of Misericordia Health Centre are full of spirit this holiday season.

Arlene Wilgosh, President & CEO of the Winnipeg Health Region, joined the Angel Squad this morning to greet motorists crossing the Maryland Bridge.

The effort was part of a campaign to raise awareness and funds for the construction of a new rooftop garden and solarium for Misericordia Health Centre's long-term care residents. The garden is part of Misericordia's redevelopment project.

Dressed as angels in gowns, wings and halos, volunteers were smiling, waving and hailing Winnipeggers to make a quick stop to donate at Misericordia as they crossed the bridge. In exchange, motorists received a Starbucks beverage, a baked treat and a copy of the Winnipeg Free Press.

The Angel Squad, now in its 15th year, will appear along the Maryland Bridge from 7:30 to 9 a.m. each morning until Dec. 9.

To donate, you can call 22-ANGEL (222-6435), or visit misericordia.mb.ca/foundation
