Square dancers, fiddlers and drummers from William Whyte School entertained the staff at the Winnipeg Health Region head office on June 20, in honour of National Aboriginal Day.

The wee dancers were delightful to watch, as they jingled their way through a long dance set, following their act with a bow or three. The fiddlers performed several jigs, quite the accomplishment as they are only allowed to practice on violins while at school.

Following the performance by the school children, the White Horse Drum Group kept the beat while a hoop dancer wowed the audience with the healing images he built out of 18 hoops, including that of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, a wolf and a bear.

Metis singer-song writer Sonia Eidse had the audience tapping their toes, and Stan Kipling, the spiritual care provider with Aboriginal Health Programs with the Region, talked about Aboriginal spirituality.
