Ahhhh, it's summer. You can't wait to get outside and have fun: weekends at the beach, going swimming and eating boardwalk food. You can explore that hiking trail you've been thinking about. Or paddle your own canoe, anywhere the whim takes you.

Before you head out, it pays to be prepared. Consider all the hazards you might encounter outdoors, from pesky mosquitoes to getting a sun burn, scratches and scrapes or worse.

But the hazards of summer aren't that hard to avoid, if you follow some simple safety rules to keep yourself healthy. Read on to learn more about sun safety, keeping your picnic perfect, quenching your thirst and guarding against Lyme disease.
