How do I request a trained health interpreter?

Healthcare providers at WRHA facilities and WRHA funded facilities can request a trained interpreter in two ways:

N.B.: Fax option only available Monday - Thursday; 0800-1600 hrs.

*Fax option is not applicable urgent or same-day service requests

For each request for interpreter services you must indicate:

  • Your full name, work telephone/fax number
  • Name and location of your facility/program/site (requester)
  • Patient/client full name, gender, phone number, chart/case number
  • Interpreter gender requirement or preference, as applicable

  • Appointment site/program and location including street address & room number, phone number, fax number

When you call 788-8575 to place a request the intake operator collect the details pertaining to your request, verify interpreter availability, end the call, and then page the interpreter with the request details. The interpreter will call the intake operator and accept or decline the assignment. Within 24 - 48 hours, you (requester) will receive a fax notification indicating whether or not an interpreter has been scheduled.

Please keep a record of the notification record and inform the patient/client and other appropriate person(s) that a WRHA Language Access trained interpreter has been scheduled.

Be sure to call 788-8585 when an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled so that the interpreter can be notified.
