Home care weather delays

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority
Thursday, October 10, 2019

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) is advising residents of Winnipeg that community health services - home care services in particular - may be affected over the next few days, due to stormy weather.

Weather-related service delays or cancellations are possible for all clients, depending on the severity of the storm and its impact on transportation and access to clients. Every effort will be made to maintain existing schedules. However, some weather-related delays and cancellations may be inevitable.

Clients whose visits will be postponed or cancelled can expect to be contacted by phone and notified of the change. Depending on the nature of the service, some visits could be delayed, rescheduled or cancelled altogether.

Clients wishing to cancel or postpone their own visits may contact their case coordinator or nurse, or the after-hours service line at 204-788-8331.

Home care clients may consider initiating back-up plans through family or friends, if possible, in the event that services may have to be cancelled or postponed during, or immediately following, the storm.

We anticipate that service will resume as per usual once the storm has cleared, and we apologize in advance for any disruption this may cause our clients.
