WRHA and Victoria Hospital to sign Ottawa Declaration in the name of a healthy Francophonie

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority
Tuesday, September 13, 2022

We invite you to be part of our celebration as Mike Nader, WRHA CEO and Rachel Ferguson, Victoria Hospital Chief Operating Officer take the lead in signing the Ottawa Declaration. This Declaration is an important milestone in fulfilling the WRHA and Victoria Hospital's commitment to improving the active offer of services in French.

Date: Tuesday, September 13, 2022
Time: 9:00 a.m.
Location: Victoria Hospital Miracle Garden, 2340 Pembina Hwy

Composed of thirteen principles (six values and seven commitments), the Ottawa Declaration is a tool designed to encourage health care facilities to prioritize their actions to improve French-language health care services. By signing this declaration, we are affirming our priority to improve the health care system for the Francophone community. The statements of the Declaration are meant to guide those who decide on health services to consider the needs of minority Francophones from the beginning of their planning. When we get older or sick, navigating the healthcare system in a second language is increasingly difficult. Innovative planning will not only meet the needs of minority Francophones but improve the health care system for everyone.

Signing the declaration reflects the WRHA and Victoria Hospital's solidarity and desire to live together while celebrating our differences and diversity. It is another step towards our mission of co-ordinating and delivering safe and caring services that promote health and well-being.
