Respiratory virus infections, including influenza and COVID-19, can lead to serious illness, especially for seniors, people with compromised immune systems, Indigenous Manitobans and people already being treated for a serious illness.
Annual flu and COVID-19 vaccines are especially important for those at increased risk of serious illness from the flu and COVID, their caregivers, and their close contacts.
Manitoba Health encourages all Manitobans to get their free seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccines every year in the fall. Find out whether you are eligible.
Respiratory viruses including flu and COVID-19 spread person-to-person through tiny droplets when people who are infected cough, sneeze, or talk. They can also be spread by touching a surface contaminated with droplets, and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
