Megan Ferguson
Clinical Service Lead and Social Worker, Seven Oaks General Hospital
Megan is the Clinical Service Lead for Social Work at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, Megan plays an integral role in the discharge planning, as well as conducting psychosocial assessments and developing interventions.
A large part of her job is to advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they have supports in the community. This involves working closely with resources such as Employment and Income Assistance, Home Care, shelters, housing organizations, community agencies, etc.
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented some interesting challenges to her work. Connecting patients with community supports that have changed or didn't exist before the pandemic is one example. It has meant being more creative with solving problems or challenges during this time.
Despite that, Megan is happy to know that she's helping people who are at their most vulnerable. She's honoured to be assisting people through these difficult times and we're grateful for her work.
