Sheila Mills

Midwife

Sheila Mills is a practicing midwife in Winnipeg. She works primarily out of the Birth Centre on St. Mary's Road. Sheila has worked with midwifery services since 2001. Midwifery services marked its 20th anniversary in Manitoba this past June 12, 2020!

Sheila has been an integral part of the growth and integration of midwifery services within the health care system over the past two decades.

Sheila's medical practice supports expectant parents to make healthy choices for themselves, and their pregnancies, to promote the best possible health outcomes for their children. Sheila also engages with families in the important decisions surrounding their pregnancy and delivery. This includes discussions about the best location for the delivery of the family's new baby: at home, at the Birth Centre, or at the hospital and providing prenatal and post-natal care with a focus on priority populations.

While the nature of childbirth can be unpredictable at the best of times, Sheila has been able to support her colleagues through the added uncertainty of COVID-19 that impacts all areas of health service delivery.

Sheila's clinical expertise, passion for improvement and learning, make her an important advocate and support to both her clients and colleagues in Midwifery Services.

Thank you, Sheila.
