WRHA selects new President and CEO

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s board of directors is pleased to announce that Vickie Kaminski has been selected as WRHA’s new President and CEO.
Ms. Kaminski will begin her new role with the WRHA on Jan.6, 2020, replacing Réal Cloutier, who announced his retirement in October. Mr. Cloutier will remain in his position until mid-January, during which time he will assist with Ms. Kaminski’s transition.
Ms. Kaminski, who holds a degree in nursing and has more than 40 years’ experience in health care, brings to the table a unique combination of clinical expertise, executive management experience, and familiarity with Winnipeg’s health-care system and the changes that have been undertaken here in Winnipeg and Manitoba.
She has served in executive management roles with public health-care systems in Australia, Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador, including tenure as President and CEO of Alberta Health Services from 2014 to 2016. She has worked with the WRHA in a consulting capacity since July 2019 as a member of the provincial Transformation Leadership Team.
As an executive leader, Ms. Kaminski helped to establish a framework for cardiac care in Ontario, and has previous experience overseeing large-scale health system transformation in both Australia and Newfoundland and Labrador. She has won numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, including having been named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs. She has served on more than two dozen boards and committees throughout her career in health care, including as president of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and as a member of the Canadian Institute for Health Information’s Strategic Analytic Committee.
