Accessibility
Disability affects the lives of many Manitobans. Today, one in six Manitobans has a disability, and the number will continue to grow as our population ages.
The Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) became law in December, 2013, and applies to all organizations that provide goods and services, including the WRHA. The AMA includes five main standards: customer service, employment, information and communication, transportation and built environment. All these standards must be complied with by 2023.
To help us develop a culture of accessibility for the benefit of both those we serve and our staff, you’ll find accessibility training modules and communication tools designed to support this important work. We’ll continue to update the site as new resources become available. Check back frequently for the latest information, and watch for more information in the Health Care Connection, the regional newsletter for staff.
We are constantly working to improve accessibility at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
