Palliative Care
Palliative care is an approach to care which focuses on comfort and quality of life for people of all ages affected by life-threatening illness. Palliative care helps address physical needs and symptoms, along with emotional, psychosocial and spiritual matters. A team approach is used to support patients and their families.

Where are palliative care services delivered?
The Regional Palliative Care Program is based on the belief that quality end-of life care can be provided in a variety of settings. Specialized palliative care units and hospice settings exist for patients whose needs cannot be met at home or in hospital.

Our Team
The work of the Regional Palliative Care Program is accomplished by a large group of individuals working together to support quality palliative and end-of-life care.
Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID)
We understand that while looking into palliative care services, some may be looking for information about Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID). MAID is not connected with the WRHA Palliative Care Program, but is a distinct service.
