December 22, 2016 – STARS flight crews and WRHA Emergency Room staff are reminding the public to take care this holiday season.  

December 9, 2016 – Four new research projects will be led by four Health Sciences Centre (HSC) Winnipeg-affiliated researchers, thanks to $4.25 million in funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

November 28, 2016 – Manitoba’s first hospital-based roof-top heliport became officially operational at Health Sciences Centre (HSC) Winnipeg today, improving access to care for critically ill and injured patients being airlifted to HSC.

November 15, 2016 – Don’t be fooled by the warm fall weather; cold and flu season is underway and affecting babies with severe respiratory infections.

November 2, 2016 – The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) sent letters to patients this week to notify them that a paper billings file went missing from a diagnostic imaging office earlier this month. The file was stored in a locked room at Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg in an area with swipe card access only. Patient information available in the file is limited and the WRHA does not believe the information will be exploited.

October 31, 2016 – The St. Boniface Hospital (SBH) and Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s Cardiac Sciences Program are notifying adult cardiac surgery patients who had open heart surgery since 2012 about a potential infection risk related to their surgery.

August 10, 2016 – The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA)'s Spinal Cord Injury Program at Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg (HSC) - the only program of its kind in Manitoba - is one of the first in Canada to be successfully accredited according to standards developed by the Rick Hansen Institute (RHI) and Accreditation Canada (AC) in 2012 and rolled out for AC site reviews across the country.

June 30, 2016 – Construction is complete on the new MRI Suite at Grace Hospital, and the facility has been open and fully functional since mid-April. Today, those associated with the project came together to celebrate the achievement with a grand opening party.

June 28, 2016 – Eleven high school students from Winnipeg with developmental disabilities will be studying higher education at Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg beginning this fall.. The students are part of Project SEARCH, a one-year program dedicated to providing people with disabilities opportunities to learn relevant, marketable skills while immersed in a business.

June 21, 2016 – The Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) is the first air medical program in Canada to begin stocking blood in advance for life-saving transfusions. Manitoba Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living, Kelvin Goertzen visited the STARS Winnipeg base today to announce the new service offered by STARS in Manitoba.
