Andrea Spencer
Manager of Knowledge Transfer and Collaborative Practice, Grace Hospital
Andrea started working at the Grace Hospital in 1997 as a Health Care Aide. She quickly discovered her passion in caring for patients and returned to school to receive a nursing diploma from Red River College, and later, a Bachelor's of Nursing from University of Manitoba.
Andrea has worked as a general surgery nurse, an educator, a clinical manager and is currently Manager of Knowledge Transfer and Collaborative Practice at the Grace Hospital.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Andrea has led a team of dedicated and passionate educators to ensure all staff have the most up to date information needed to keep themselves, patients, and the public safe. Andrea and her team model a calm approach and supportive leadership to staff while sharing the most current COVID-related updates that affect all practice disciplines.
In the early stages of the pandemic, Andrea readily adopted an additional role as Clinical Advisor for Materials Management in the procurement and stewardship of personal protective equipment (PPE) and continues to work collaboratively in this role to date. During this unprecedented time, observing people from both inside and outside of healthcare coming together to support one another to make a difference has had a profound effect on Andrea. She is grateful to be able to witness the support of her colleagues, family, friends and the public as we work through this difficult time together.
