Community Intravenous Team
The pandemic has highlighted for all of us, the importance of our health care providers from every discipline.
One of these unique teams is the Community Intravenous Team (CIVP) who have, over the last two weeks, provided hydration to personal care home (PCH) residents across the city and supported our long term care sector in their hour of need.
The team, led by Hugh Chan and Linda Lawson, was able to mobilize quickly and efficiently over a short period of time to support the 100 referrals they've received to date. Their team has been able to anticipate and respond quickly to the needs of residents reducing the need for EMS presence in our PCHs and reducing the number of residents being transferred to emergency.
For this, PCH residents and families have expressed their gratitude and PCH leadership has come forward to offer their thanks as well for the team's support during these challenging times.
This work wouldn't have been possible without CIVP nurses providing this life-saving care as well as the logistics and supply chain management incident command team who worked behind the scenes to ensure that pumps and poles were available at each site to support this incredibly important work.
Outstanding work, by an outstanding team.
