Danielle Peebles

Social Worker

Danielle Peebles is a Social Worker at the Northern Connection Medical Centre (NCMC) on Elgin Avenue. NCMC is a primary care clinic that offers screening, diagnosis, medical management and education to help patients. In addition to Danielle, the clinic's interdisciplinary care team includes primary care physicians, family medicine residents (students), primary care assistants, nurses, a registered dietitian, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and a pharmacist.

As the team's social worker, Danielle is responsible for resource facilitation; advocacy and helping her clients navigate the health care system. She also provides observation and education to family medicine residents (who perform practicums at NCMC) from an anti-colonial, anti-racist, trauma informed, harm reduction and Indigenous framework.

Along with her NCMC, University of Manitoba and My Health Team colleagues, Danielle has worked throughout the pandemic to provide quality care to clients who are sometimes unsure of what tomorrow may bring. She works to build relationships with her clients that help humanize their encounter with the health care system, while advocating for individuals, families and the community at large.

Danielle was nominated by a colleague based on the important work she does with members of the community. "Danielle's focus is to provide culturally safe care to Northern Connection Medical Centre's clients. Her support also extends to the members of our team as she provides valuable insight and education to our family medicine residents from the University of Manitoba, College of Medicine, Northern and Remote stream."

Thank you, Danielle.
