Jennifer Palmer
Unit Clerk, St. Boniface Hospital Outpatient Medicine Clinic
If you're low on Christmas or holiday spirit this year, you'll be happy to hear about a heartwarming initiative taking place at the Outpatient Medicine Clinic at St. Boniface Hospital, where unit clerk Jennifer Palmer is helping to share the magic of the season.
Her cheerful demeanor, her generous spirit and her dedication to bringing some joy to the season are infectious in the best possible way.
To share that joy with her community, Jennifer has been working hard to assemble holiday cards for residents living in Personal Care Homes this season since they won't have the opportunity to visit with family as they may have had pre-COVID.
Together with members of her team in Ambulatory Care, with members of her family, her friends and her community, she has assembled more than 580 holiday cards(!) for PCH residents. The cards will be distributed by a local radio station who announced an initiative to collect holiday cards from Winnipeggers to share with residents in PCHs across the city.
"I just want to help put a smile on people's faces," she says, "They need to know they aren't alone during the holidays and that someone is thinking of them.
"The best part about this work was that it became a bright spot in our days as well - I kept a whiteboard tally going of how many cards we'd received so far and spreading that joy helped to lift our spirits, too! And who doesn't need a little joy right now?"
You're absolutely right about that Jennifer! Thank you for sharing your joy and generosity with your team and with the rest of us!
