Congratulations to River Park Gardens Director of Care Shannon Chartrand who received the Award for Administration from the Manitoba Gerontological Nurses Association (MGNA). MGNA's mission is to promote continuous improvement in the care of older adults and their families across the care continuum in collaboration with other health care providers through education and dissemination of knowledge.
In presenting the award, the MGNA recognized Shannon as a highly dependable, trusted and well-organized Indigenous nurse leader who "has continually demonstrated a commitment and dedication to nursing and to improving the care of the older adult."
In listing some of Shannon's many accomplishments, the MGNA applauded her for successfully leading a large team at the Misericordia Health Centre and contributing to the development of Transitional Care Units and PRIME Day Centre, for her efforts in integrating the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's recommendations into long term care/personal care home care, and for supporting Indigenous residents in celebrating their culture.
The MGNA also noted that Shannon's leadership "fosters an environment that facilitates teamwork, cooperative, collaborative relationships, innovation, creative change and the delivery of optimal levels of resident care."
Congratulations Shannon!
