WRHA Pride Parade Team

The Winnipeg Health Region is proud to celebrate the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community and march in the Winnipeg Pride Parade on June 4, 2023 with our own WRHA Pride Parade team!

Important Parade Day Information

On Sunday morning, please locate our walking group at Memorial Park (across from the Manitoba Legislative Building) at the corner of Memorial and Broadway.

  • The WRHA's Pride Parade Team will assemble at Memorial Park. Our group will be located in Aisle E and we are entry number 139.
  • If you need assistance locating WRHA's team, please go the Admissions Tent at the corner of Memorial and Broadway for directions.
  • You must be at the designated assembly area no later than 10 a.m.
  • The parade begins promptly at 11 a.m. but we may not start walking until closer to 11:30 a.m.
  • The parade route is approximately 2.4 km.
  • Parking will be challenging. We encourage you to get dropped off near Memorial Park, plan to take public transportation/Uber/taxi/etc., or park at The Forks and walk to the meeting location.

What to Bring With You

We want everyone to come prepared and stay energized and hydrated! Here's a quick list of suggested items to bring with you:

  • Festive attire (feather boas, rainbow socks, flags, tattoos, etc.)
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Hat
  • Snacks
  • Backpack/bag/tote to store your belongings
  • Any other items for the weather conditions (jacket, umbrella, etc.)

NOTE: Pride Winnipeg does not sell bottled water. There will be water refill stations at The Forks.

Additional Information

As a WRHA team participant in this event, please remember that you are representing our organization. As such, we want to remind you to be kind and review the rules and conduct procedures below.

If you choose to participate in festive activities after the parade, please keep in mind that even on our personal time, members of the public may see us as representatives of the WRHA.

Your participation in this event is on personal time and compensatory time cannot be accrued.

Rules

  • Do not throw anything to onlookers.
  • Please help keep the site clean by using trash receptacles.
  • Demonstrators have a right to be present on the parade route, just as we do. If, however, you feel harassed or threatened, speak to a marshal, police officer, or to the onsite security.
  • Do not confront demonstrators on your own.
  • During the parade, make noise, wave to onlookers, and have fun.
  • Most importantly, walk proud!

Operations

  • Our team must always maintain a forward motion unless we are asked to stop by a parade marshal. Maneuvering, sidestepping or other action is permitted provided we maintain a forward motion, consistent to the pace of the parade.
  • All components of our group must stay within our group (walk together). No one should overflow to teams ahead or after ours.
  • Please respect everyone's space.

Conduct

  • No one shall conduct themselves in a manner offensive to general standards of decency or good taste.
  • The parade director or designate reserves the right to screen all entries and exclude inappropriate items.
  • In the event of inappropriate behavior, the individual/group will be removed from the parade and all fees will be forfeited.
  • The parade has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for those choosing to abuse volunteers or participants.
  • Please promptly report violators to Pride officials on route.
  • All laws of the land must be followed.
