Arranging a Dispensing or Clinical Placement (Practicum)

WRHA Pharmacies are pleased to provide dispensing or clinical placements to pharmacy students registered at CCAPP-accredited (or equivalent) Universities and Colleges. We are also pleased to provide dispensing practicums for pharmacy technician students or pharmacy assistant students enrolled at recognized Canadian technical schools and technical colleges.

We regret that WRHA Pharmacies are unable to accept placement requests from students. The student's academic Program Director, Student Placement Officer, Structured Practical Experiential Program Coordinator, Course Instructor (or equivalent) should send requests for pharmacy-related student placements to the WRHA Regional Pharmacy Manager for Education Services.

Programs that submit their placement requests for the next academic year by May 1 are notified by the middle of July regarding the number of placement slots allocated to their program. For example, if an academic program submits a list of placement requests for its 2023/24 academic year before May 1, 2023 (for placements needed during September 2023 through August 2024), they will be advised by 15 July 2023 regarding the number, types and dates of placements allocated to (reserved for) them for the whole 2023/24 academic year.
