Indigenous Traditional Teachings Workshop

Half-Day Workshop

The Indigenous Traditional Teachings Workshop can be taken on its own or in conjunction with the Sweat Lodge Teachings Workshop.

GOAL

Experience and learn about the importance of Indigenous Traditional Teachings with guidance from an Elder or Traditional Healer and gain understanding about Traditional aspects of knowledge sharing, spirituality and relationship.

THE WORKSHOP

With guidance from an Elder or Traditional Healer, learn about oral teaching traditions. Traditional teachings have been handed down through generations of Indigenous Peoples by Traditional Healers or Elders and include medicines, ceremonies and lessons on how to live a good life on Mother Earth.

WHAT YOU CAN LEARN:

  • Obtain increased understanding and knowledge of Traditional Indigenous Teachings in a health care setting
  • Develop increased understanding and knowledge of Indigenous ceremonies
  • Increase ability to provide culturally competent and proficient care

TIME and REGISTRATION

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

It is recommended that participants complete the Indigenous Cultural Awareness Workshop prior to this workshop.

We are currently transitioning from WRHA's Organization & Staff Development's online registration system to the Learning Management System operated by Manitoba eHealth.
