Advocacy
Freedom from racism and access to cultural elements while receiving care, are rights belonging to all Manitoba Indigenous patients.
All members of the WRHA Patient Safety team have a role in advocacy support for patients and families receiving care while in hospital.
The Regional Indigenous Patient Advocate facilitates feedback resolution for concerns/complaints about care from patients and clients of WRHA hospitals and programs of the most complex needs, experienced by those most impacted by colonization.
Working alongside colleagues within the WRHA IH Patient Services Program, as well as external organizations, such as Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Patient Advocate Unit, the Regional Indigenous Patient Advocate supports families, patients and clients to advocate for their specific health needs.
If you have any concerns about the care provided to you or a family member, please contact the Regional Indigenous Patient Advocate by calling toll-free 1-877-940-8880.
