Amputee Outpatient Clinics

  • Located at Health Sciences Centre (HSC) and Pan Am Clinic
  • This clinic provides outpatient follow-up for those patients who have undergone a limb amputation
  • Referrals are accepted from Physicians/Primary Care Providers

Stroke/Post Stroke/Spasticity Outpatient Clinic

  • Located at Riverview Health Centre (RHC)
  • Clients experiencing stroke are seen in this clinic after hospital discharge
  • Referrals are accepted from Physicians/Primary Care Providers
  • Referrals are sent to Booking Clerk at (Tel) 204-478-6401, (Fax) 204-478-6409

Spinal Cord Injury Outpatient Clinic

  • Located at Health Sciences Centre (HSC)
  • Referrals are accepted from Physicians/Primary Care Providers

Spasticity Outpatient Clinic

  • Located at Health Sciences Centre (HSC)
  • Some causes of spasticity include: stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Spasticity is treated with medications including Botox, which are covered under Pharmacare and other insurance plans
  • The Clinical Team consists of:
    • Physiatrists (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Doctors)
    • Rehabilitation Nurses
    • Physical Therapists
    • Occupational Therapists
    • Rehabilitation Engineers

  • Following completion of Stroke Rehabilitation, some patients may benefit from Botox treatment for Spasticity.
  • Following traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, some patients may benefit from management of Spasticity, which might include Botox injections.

    • The Clinical Team consists of:
    • Physiatrists (physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors)

Communication Devices Program

  • Located at Deer Lodge Centre (DLC)
  • Services include:
    • Communication assessment or consultation for a speech generating device (SGD) selection by a speech-language pathologist (SLP)
    • Assessment or consultation for SGF access and mounting by an Occupational Therapist (OT)
    • No cost loan of SGD and access/mounting equipment for trial and assessment purposes
    • Low cost rental of SGD and access/mounting equipment after successful trial
    • Device troubleshooting, training and support
    • Replacement equipment
