Province wide: Rapid Access to Consultative Expertise (RACE) for Geriatrics is now available for physicians throughout the province.
This telephone service allows physicians and nurse practitioners in community, hospital and personal care home settings in Winnipeg to access a Geriatric Medicine consultant for telephone advice. Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
This is not a direct service for patients and is not a resource for system navigation advice.

When to call:
Review of how symptoms, cognition, mobility, function and pain have changed over time for suggestions regarding:
- Involvement of other interdisciplinary team members in care optimization
- Medication discussion and adjustments
- Additional investigations taking into consideration the patient "goals of care” and "what matters most”

This telephone service allows primary care providers, including those working in a personal care home setting, to access a Psychiatry consultant for telephone advice
Callers can choose from four consultation options:
- Adult (line 1)
- Child & Adolescent (line 2)
- Geriatric Psychiatry (line 3)
- Substance Use Disorders (line4)
When to call:
- Questions about use of antipsychotic medications
- Advice on psychiatric therapeutics
- Advice on diagnostics and general management of psychiatric symptoms
