Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program has three locations: Deer Lodge Centre, Misericordia Health Centre and Seven Oaks General Hospital/Wellness Institute

  • This program is offered to clients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, chronic bronchitis and pulmonary fibrosis
  • It is an eight week program where clients attend twice weekly.
  • The program offers individualized exercise program to improve breathing and tolerance, education to understand lung disease, prevent infections, learn breathing and relaxation techniques, and use medications effectively
  • The goal of the program is to assist clients with self-management of their lung problems
  • In addition, the program offers “stop smoking strategies”
  • Along with your Primary Care Provider you will work with a team of health professionals that include:
    • Respirologists
    • Dietitians
    • Occupation Therapists
    • Pharmacists
    • Physical Therapists
    • Kinesiologists
    • Rehabilitation Assistant
    • Respiratory Therapists
    • Social Workers
  • Program Criteria
  • Referrals are accepted from Primary Care Providers, Home Care Coordinators, Hospital Inpatients Units and Emergency Departments Pulmonary Rehab Program Referral Form
  • Referrals are sent and distributed through Pulmonary Rehabilitation Intake Coordinator located at (Tel) 204-831-2181, (Fax) 204-940-8633
    • Smoking cessation support is available through the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
